KUALA LUMPUR: A plethora of attractive plane tickets and travel packages will be available at the Malaysian Association of Travel and Travel Agents (MATTA) trade fair, which takes place this weekend on November 20-21 at the World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), as well as with the return of its longtime partner Malaysia Airlines as the official airline.

This is the first physical outing of the country’s largest travel event after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Health safety protocols are in place.

The return of Malaysia Airlines shows its commitment to revive the tourism industry.

He will work closely with Malaysia Aviation Group airlines, Firefly and MASwings, with participating agents to bring the best deals to show visitors.

The national carrier and Firefly will offer discounts of up to 35% on airline tickets to all holiday destinations in Malaysia and some international destinations. These advantageous fares are also available online for immediate travel until June 30, 2022.

To sweeten the deal, Enrich members can earn 50% bonus Enrich points when purchasing flights with Malaysia Airlines during the show for travel through April 21, 2022.

Customers can choose from a wide range of airline tickets such as the Economy Lite fare which offers free 7kg cabin baggage, in-flight entertainment, snacks or free meals and drinks while those looking for a Maximum flexibility can opt for the Economy Flex fare which comes with benefits including unlimited date changes, refunds, priority check-in and a 35kg baggage allowance at no additional cost.

Those who purchase Malaysia Airlines airline tickets from the agents attending the fair also have the right to take home limited edition merchandise from the airline, Firefly, MASwings and Enrich. Additionally, with every purchase of an Economy Class ticket, visitors could be in the running to earn an upgrade to Business Class through Malaysia Airlines.

To highlight MATTA’s favorite buyers’ contest this time around, Malaysia Airlines is offering five round-trip business class tickets and five round-trip economy class tickets to international and domestic destinations.

Firefly offers six free return vouchers for all Firefly domestic routes, while MASwings offers five round-trip tickets to any of the MASwings destinations on offer.

Speaking at a press conference at Wisma MATTA, Lau Yin May, Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Malaysia Airlines Group, said the MATTA lounge provides a much needed boost to revive the industry travel.

MATTA Honorary Treasurer Nigel Wong said the fair will be important for the recovery of the country’s tourism sector with an emphasis on domestic travel while preparing for the opening of international borders.

“The show will be held on a smaller scale of 255 booths and will occupy Halls 3 and 4 of the WTCKL.

MATTA Managing Director Phua Tai Neng said the fair has received strong support from nine state tourism organizations, namely Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Johor, Kedah, Perak and Negri Sembilan.

“The fair will also see the participation of international tourism organizations, including those from South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan and Turkey,” he said.

MATTA targets 20,000 visitors to the fair while generating 25 million RM in sales.

Entrance to the show, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., is free.
